Worldview
What do we mean by "worldview?"
Everyone has a set of lenses that they view the world through. Sometimes, people think that they do not have such a thing, but, I assure you, everyone does. And, that includes you.
Imagine if you said that you do not have a personality.
I mean, maybe you just mean you are a very boring person. But, it is not likely you would mean that you are a blank slate without any character traits particular to you.
Of course you have a personality, and you most certainly have a worldview.
So, what forms your worldview?
There are multiple views on this. Some say it is your environment. Everything you are is a result of how you were raised.
Bad people come from bad families.
That would be nice, if it were that simple.
But we know that serial killers can come from completely normal families.
What is the answer then? It certainly can't just be your environment.
Why is it that evil does seem to exist?
Is there a worldview that answers this question?
As a follower of Christ, I certainly believe there is.
Is your worldview able to answer this question?
Maybe you want to teach your child all of the different world religions so that they can make their own choice. After all, you do not want to influence them one way or another.
No matter how you approach religion, it will affect how your child perceives religion in one way or another.
I am not currently aware of any secular worldview curriculum, and I would argue an attempt at such a thing would result in a lot of contradictions. 🙂
If you find one, let me know!
So, I will list the Biblical worldview that I am familiar with.
