Meet Our Family

Hello!
Welcome to our family's website. I am Kari and my husband is Perry. We have 5 daughters that we have been homeschooling since they were born! I was homeschooled back in the early days of homeschooling. Perry, well, I call him a half blood because he was in government school until upper elementary school. 🙂
As you can see from our family portrait, we are a very colorful family. My husband, however, takes issue with my artistic rendering of him personally because he is lacking a beard, and, apparently, feet. So if you ever meet us in person, and you do not recognize him as my husband because I rendered him in error, feel free to totally side with him on this issue.
(What he doesn't realize, is that he has feet. It is just that he is tip-toeing in the portrait to make himself look as tall as possible as our oldest daughter climbs ever higher towards his shoulders. Hee hee. Do not mention I told you that. 🙂 )
When I was five, my parents started a small, private school that was tailored to the needs of parents who wanted to educate their children at home. As you can imagine, that was a pretty crazy time. On two different occasions, the school was operated out of where we lived. So, I can honestly say, I have lived in a school!
It was a crazy, and totally unique journey. Over the years, I have seen hundreds and hundreds of homeschool families from all different walks of life.
Now, on this next part of our journey, we want to bring humor and encouragement into your daily homeschool life. This blog focuses on talking about all the hard aspects of homeschooling that often get overlooked while also taking needed time to review all those pesky necessary things like curriculum, learning styles, and schedules.
Perry and I have very different learning styles. Which, at first seems like it would be a difficult thing. But, in reality, our 5 children all fall within our two opposite learning styles. And, between Perry and me, we have a pretty decent handle on all the unique aspects of how our children learn.
Do not get me wrong, I am not saying we have it all figured out. But, it is a definite advantage to bring in both learning personalities of Mom and Dad.
We are so excited to have you join us!
